Name |
Non-infectious human illness |
Description |
|
Usage Notes |
Whenever a chronic or non-infectious disease is explicitly identified in a report, regardless of verb outcome (e.g., paralysis, illness, death, etc.), code to this event category. Never code a death resulting from a specified cause to the Human death event category (because coding to the Human death category provides absolutely no information about the cause of death). Should the chronic or non-infectious illness be the result of a chemical or biological weapons attack, code to the appropriate Chemical weapons use or Biological weapons use event category. Should the target of an chronic or non-infectious disease be an animal, code to the Animal illness event category. |

Example Notes |
The source actor for this event category will always be the (naturally occurring) non-infectious disease. The non-infectious disease must be explicitly stated in order to code to the Human non-infectious disease category. The human person or people with the non-infectious disease will always be the target/s in an Human non-infectious illness disease coding. |
